Find Your Bunker

Depending on your personal level of risk acceptance or aversion, you may decide that sticking it out within the current range of civil urban or suburban society is just not worth the bet. If you're in the "give him a chance" camp or among those inclined to derive solace from the fact that Trump has interviewed Tulsi Gabbert for a position, or if you are still thinking that our institutions are strong enough to absorb the impact of someone as autocratic and self serving as Donald Trump, your best bet is to stay put, build that underground bunker, and get it well stocked. And if you're intent is to defend the sanctity of civil society, you are a patriot!
If you would rather watch from the sidelines and see if anything around the cities survives, you might consider moving to the country for awhile. It turns out that a small bunch of Americans have envisioned something like what the rest of us are staring down the barrel at now, and have already set up quarters. Even better, with a ultra-right tilted administration coming into Washington, many of these people will be coming out of the woods, back onto the grid and moving to places like eastern Virginia and Maryland. That leaves a great opportunity for the rest of us, now the "new Trump survivalists" to get great deals on bunker-based and remote fortified homes in the great Idaho American Redoubt.
Finding opportunities didn't take much of a search. www.SurvivalRealty.com comes right up and has places all over the world, with a host in Idaho. My guess is that prices shot right up right after the 9th, but given what's upstream, price may be no object.
When hunting your bunker home, make sure you check off things like water, power, local food sources, and a good 15 to 20 feet of gun rack. Since you'll be wanting to stay off the grid, internet access may not be a top priority. Ham radio will be useful. When setting up the antennas, make sure you disguise them better than those cell towers with fake pine branches on them. Keep in mind that surveillance of citizens will increase and if you're trying to stay off the grid, the means that the agencies will use to find you will just shift to satellites and drones.
